As I get ready for Worship service tonight I will be brief. So much has gone on this past year. CJ walks, talks, runs, falls, sings, dances, swings her hips (help me Lord), she knows how to use her charm, she will state how she feels, and so much more. Watching her grow this past year has been marvelous. I thank God for her presence in my life.
As for Daddy, this past year has been full of ups and downs. However on this last day I say, "Through it All God Brought Me Through!" As I am re-focused, recommitted, rededicated, and moving in full throttle all behind his lead, I am grateful for his grace and mercy. I thank him for my wife, child, family, friends, success and struggles. They have all helped to make me a better man. As Usher said, "I'm a movement by myself but I'm a force when we're together", God that is! He gets all my praise.
So as usual keep praying good people, prayer changes things, people, and things! I know because it changed me!
I almost forgot. It is 8:52pm and Daddy bathed CJ and prayed with her. She went to sleep within five minutes. I know Mommy must be ecstatic!
This blog will chronicle the journey between a new father and his daughter. It will highlight the ups and the downs, and all the lessons learned. It is my prayer that "C.J. and Me" will be an inspiration to all that the bond between father and daughter can be strong. It will also show the world that there are REAL men who help develop stellar women who will go on and shake up the world. Enjoy the journey and look daily to see what new and exciting things are going on in our lives!

Weekday at Grandma's
So today ended up being a twofer for CJ. It was a rare day where she saw and got to spend time with both of her grandmothers. Due to work schedules, church, distance, and life in general this opportunity does not always present itself. Today was different. Since CJ's mommy is not a hairstylist CJ's hair over the break has been a bit untamed. Since she was going out in public Mommy asked Daddy to see if his mom would agree to do it. Of course she said yes. So this morning we woke up, got dressed and headed out to East Orange for the first grandma meeting of the day. We had breakfast, CJ played, and then it was time to get the hair done. CJ saw the comb and like clockwork she began to cry. I do not know if she is tender headed or just like every other little girl in the world hates having her hair messed with. Well after a million tears her head looked liked we loved her and she was off and running to play with her cousins. Now CJ learned today that she needs to get her weight up. She was trying to keep up with the other kids but got knocked down. She cried a little but never dropped the waffle she was eating.
So after CJ got herself all dolled up it was off to Grandma's house again, this time to Roselle. Since CJ was not around on Christmas her grandmother insisted on seeing her. As soon as we walked in the door CJ was given her presents. A learning cell phone (Now she might leave mine alone) pajamas a buggy and a toilet. You heard it right folks, CJ will begin to use a toilet tomorrow. We figured why not get her used to sitting on it at least. Now you know no trip to the grandparents house is complete without CJ being given junk food. At least today it was an oatmeal cookie. CJ roamed about and touched every remote and all the other electronic devices she could. She even wanted to see the dog today so her Pop Pop brought her to the door to see Cocoa the pet Pitbull (Daddy doesn't approve but he does not want CJ to feel the same way he feels about dogs so he rolls with it). CJ played and played and roamed and roamed until she did not know what to do with herself. She did not even take a nap today.
Once we got in the car CJ went to sleep eventually. She had a very long day but she had a whole lot of fun. She is now sleeping on the living room floor as the house warms up a little bit. Keep the prayers going up, 2010 was an interesting year for both CJ and Daddy we both have matured because of prayer so do us that favor. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

A Regular Day
Daddy woke up, then CJ. We came in the living room and CJ took in her morning dose of cartoons. Daddy prepared us some grits and toast and we dined together as we do every morning we are on vacation. The day was rather dull. CJ did what she did, that is get into any and everything she could. Daddy relaxed and watched television and chatted with Mommy. CJ and Daddy did get a mini concert in today. We performed some of our favorite Earth, Wind, and Fire cuts. CJ is a real songbird when she wants to be, though she enjoys dancing much more.
She went to sleep without much fuss tonight too. It was a little later than normal but we will take what we can get. So, keep praying folks, prayer changes things, people, and situations. It can changes CJ's bad attitude at night as well!

Blizzard Clean-Up 2010
The day after the blizzard is always interesting. Daddy spent an hour and twenty minutes digging out the car. he was going to take CJ for a ride but he opted to use caution and leave her home.
She tried to stay up late again and we had to put her in her crib and leave her. CJ is really feeling herself these days. She is trying her luck and testing both Daddy and Mommy. She will do something and look to see our response. She also act like she cannot hear at times. Which annoys Daddy but he is trying his best to be persistent and uniform with his discipline.
She is sleep now and we will see what tomorrow will bring. Keep praying folks, prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Snowed In
It is very rare that Daddy does not see the outside world. Today was the first time in a long time where Daddy did not even make it to the front door. Since the northeast was hit by a blizzard last night and Daddy and CJ are on vacation no one had plans or saw it necessary to go out in the bad weather. Daddy's switch from a truck back to a car may have played a huge role in him staying home as well. Nonetheless CJ and her Daddy had an eventful day. Daddy woke up for his Monday morning conference prayer call and stayed up from that. So the next person to wake up in the house of course was CJ. It seemed as if she called out for Daddy to come get her because Mommy would not respond to her beckoning.
Once CJ was up and roaming around Daddy decided to fix some breakfast. Pancakes were on the menu for this morning. Mommy chose not to eat with us so Daddy and CJ dined together. CJ sat and ate all of her pancake too, she must of been hungry. CJ then proceeded to undo everything Daddy had done. Daddy was particularly upset with CJ because she emptied out all of her blocks and scattered them around. Before you say that she is a kid and that is what she is suppose to do let me tell you something. I am OK with her using them, but when she pours them all out and then kicks them then moves on to something else, especially after Daddy has picked them all up is where Daddy has an issue.
CJ also played a cruel joke on her Daddy today as well. Daddy was laying on the floor minding his own business. Then I felt a body on my back. That was OK, Cj usually will sit or lay on my back. What was next created the problem, I felt something very cold slide down my neck. I did not get startled because I did not want to scare the baby. I eventually felt that she had spit milk on me and then proceeded to laugh hysterically. All I could say was Mommy get your child. It is a prank daddy would play so again, this girl not only has my looks (that is a good thing) she also is developing some of my personality which in some ways is good and in others may be problematic.
So now I guess I have to prank CJ next. She has awaken a sleeping giant in the prank category. One who she might have wanted to stay asleep. In any event it shall be fun to see how she responds when I get her back. I know you along with her mother will say I should be the adult but what fun s life as an adult. I want to be a kid again, lol!
So the night ended as usual. Daddy tried to save her from the crib but she refused to come a lay with her Daddy. So Mommy took her in the room and put her in the crib and she cried as she normally does for five or more minutes straight. Currently she is quiet but still awake and mommy's foot is still on her neck. If CJ would only listen to her Daddy she would be at least out relaxing with her Daddy instead of in the dungeon that is her crib, at least at night it is.
So folks CJ needs you to pray for her night time situation, Daddy knows and she is learning that prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Happy Birthday To Daddy - Blizzard 2010
Today was Daddy's 31st Birthday. His Princess bought her king a Wok! Now some of you may say that is a weird gift but if you knew how much Daddy loved cooking stir-fry you would understand. CJ also gave me a card that will be laminated and framed as soon as the weather allows me the chance to get to the store. Today was a Sunday so Daddy spent the day in Worship of course, what better place to be.
CJ's day started out a little rough. Her first outfit had a spot on it, her shoes did not fit, and all this while we were running late. It was all good though, Daddy had already said better late than never but we made it on time.
Today also brought about a blizzard. At this very moment, as CJ sleeps soundly, the snow continues to mount up inch after inch. The ride home from church was slow and steady. Praise God for traveling mercy. Once we arrived home Daddy prepared a scrumptious meal of steak, mashed sweet potatoes, and string beans. Looking back at it, it was a very colorful pallet. CJ refuses to let anyone feed her these days. She insists on doing it herself. Even though it gets messy and Mommy gets so annoyed at the mess it creates, it shows she is growing up and maturing.
For some reason Daddy did not want to plan anything for his birthday. He told Mommy he had foresight because if they did plan something the weather would have ruined it. Mommy did keep with the tradition of Daddy having an ice cream cake for his birthday, which he thought was very special.
The highlight of the day for CJ and Daddy was after dinner. (Daddy needed a pick me up since the Giants were obliterated tonight) So after CJ fed herself sweet potatoes, she has them all over her face. Of course Daddy asked for a kiss and she gave him one. Daddy looked at her and then told her very loudly that she had a sweet potato face. Not to be outdone CJ said something back to Daddy very loudly as well. Then they spent the next few moments loudly talking to each other. They found it to be very funny but I bet Mommy wished they both would shut up.
I guess we will wait out this snow and go out and play tomorrow. CJ has her snow suit so she can make her first snow angel. So as we praise God for the snow continue to pray for healing in the land tonight. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says this, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." We know that prayer changes things, people, and situations. This has been on my mind all day and the world is suffering from many chronic illnesses.
NOTE TO CJ: It is always important to remember to pray for others!

Christmastime Is Here
Today was Christmas, and before any of you ask, CJ does not believe in Santa Claus. About halfway through the morning I was fed up with CJ because she chose to play with boxes rather than the stuff she received. She did seem to like the ball pit though, so Daddy decided to join her in it. I bet you wish you could see that. She also played with her dolls a bit too. She named one of them Abby. That is, if you ask Mommy. I believe Mommy is going with a sound she produced and trying to pass it off as her name.
We had a shocker today when we found out the water was off. For a moment, Mommy and Daddy thought we would have to go out for dinner and TGI Friday's was the only place open. YUCK. Luckily the water came back on and we were able to stay home and feast on Mommy's great cooking.
CJ put up a fuss tonight going to bed. Mommy was her stern usual self and Daddy came in to play the peacekeeper. Mommy does not like when I play that role but she needs to understand that CJ is Daddy's Princess and we will operate differently at times. To catch you up to speed, Daddy does not believe in forcing CJ to go to sleep, Mommy does. Daddy has yielded to Mommy's request on this one but will always try to find a crack in her operation from time to time. Tonight I coddled CJ until she fell asleep. She had a long day folks, but I am concerned because she did not eat much.
So the day is over and she is asleep and Daddy is heading to bed. You all pray for us as we continue to grow. Prayer changes things, people, and situations!

Twas The Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, CJ was stirring, I hope we do not have no mouse. Now CJ is to young to even anticipate what lies ahead but for some reason she would not go to sleep. There is one bag that she insists on bothering and it is not even her gift. Daddy sat and listened to Christmas songs, she would dance to some but did not really feel grooving to music. She would rather go into the kitchen and bathroom to interrupt Mommy as she cleaned.
Tonight she tried to get off with falling out which I did not go for at all. I let her know I would give her something to fall out for if she continued the episodes. (I sound like my dad, lol) Moving along, Mommy fixed her something to eat and CJ ate it all. She then laid down but then popped back up. I had enough so I have her in the room with me and she is in her crib about to be sleep for the night. (Even though that was an hour ago and she is still playing peekaboo with her self and pops up whenever she hears a crack)
So I guess she will be one of those who insists on opening her presents at 12:00am Christmas Morning. Well, as long as she says, "Thank You Jesus" first she will be free to do whatever she want. As for Daddy, he will be sleep. So folks as I end tonight, i want to remind you that Jesus is the Season point blank. I pray you did not go for broke and go further in debt trying to satisfy carnal pleasures. You have every other day of the year to show folks you love them and to exchange gifts. Think about this, the Magi brought gift of Gold, frankincense, and Myrrh. Simple gifts yet full of purpose and power. Think about what you give and the meaning and reason behind it. Most of you can not make any sense of it, i know you can not. Give God the PRAISE during this holiday season and look up what the meaning behind the Magi's gift is. Keep praying folks, prayer changes things, people, and situations.
NOTE TO CJ: Daddy want you to know that Christmas is not about receiving or giving gifts. On Christmas in Daddy's house we will always give God the Praise for giving us his son Jesus Christ. If you do not get one gift on December 25th just know your gift is Jesus and that is the most precious gift you could receive! Daddy loves you!

Daddy puts CJ in the crib and CJ falls asleep rather quickly.
Daddy fell asleep quicker.
Daddy asked Mommy to wake him up no matter what.
Mommy did not do as Daddy asked her to.
It is 2:38am the next day and Daddy wakes up, CJ is sleep. Mommy never made it to bed, she is sprawled out on the living room floor. Daddy still has things to do before the morning but really wants to go back to sleep.

Day Three of Vacation 2010
1/2 Day left and Daddy and CJ will have successfully dealt with each other alone. Today was a little different. Daddy did not wake up when he was supposed to that meant CJ would be awake when it was time for him to shower. This posed a problem. what do you do when you have an appointment and CJ demands all of your attention. well you do what all no good fathers would do. You occupy your Princess and then try to take the quickest, most thorough shower you could. So Daddy did just that, turned to channel 123 (That is the kid channel) and gave her a treat and while she was so into what was on the screen I dipped off to begin my shower. I left the door open and the shower curtain cracked so I could see her movement in the mirror. The angle is just that good. Low and behold I heard her stirring and I admit I got a little worried. What would she do. So I kept my shower going. Then I heard her calling my name out loud, she look in the bathroom but did not see me and then she exited to lay down to cope with the fact her Daddy was not around. Now I know this is bad folks but Daddy had to get cleaned up. As I told Mommy later I could hear the anxiety in her voice. I hurt on the inside, how could I do this to my Princess. The five minutes seemed like days. I finished up and drew the shower curtain. CJ sprung up and gave me the largest smile of happiness I have ever seen. She was relieved that she now had her Daddy back with her.
The rest of the day went well. CJ and Daddy had lunch at IHOP and we found out that she really does not like their fries. She had fun while we waited in line at the bank, and she fussed as we waited patiently for Mommy to finally come out of work. We have a half a day left and it looks to be a good one. keep praying for us as we continue on our journey. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Day Two of Vacation 2010
Another day in the books. CJ won the opening rounds but Daddy stormed back to take the middle and late rounds. We had fun talking to the old ladies in the mall. CJ refused to eat her food because it wasn't what Daddy had. We are almost over the hump and Daddy and CJ are doing quite well with each other.
Keep praying, prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Day One December 20th, 2010
Mommy shut off the computer to quick. Anyway Daddy and CJ made out quite well today. We both made it though without the other one strangling the other. Stay tuned for tomorrow.

The Sunday Before Christmas
Today we had a long day and from the beginning CJ was up and running. Today was third Sunday so we had two services. Between the 8am and 11am services we went to IHOP and CJ actually ate what we ordered for her. Today was the first time I ever saw CJ sleep in church. I kind of missed her shouting during the sermon. CJ and her cousins were in full force today as well. They had fun terrorizing each other and their great grandmothers house. CJ then went to her grandmas and ra circles around her. It was really cute.
So now our vacation begins. Daddy and CJ will stay up as late as they want. So pray for Mommy, she believes prayer changes things, people, and situations

Family Night Out
This was a first folks, a Saturday nigt and the family was all together. That is right, not Daddy alone, not Daddy and CJ, not Mommy home alone, or Mommy and CJ home. Daddy, Mommy, and CJ were in the same place at the same time. Mommy got of tickets for CJ's first Off-Broadway production. Perth Amboy High School's Art Departments prodcution of The Little Mermiad. CJ swore she was part of the show. She was afraid of the dark at first but warmed up after a while. She was singing and dancing to scences she enjoyed. She even talked with the actors from time to time. This was when she wasn't trying to punk the little girl next to us for her snacks or trying to pull the hair of the woman in front of us. The show was great to be honest.
When we arrived home CJ was bathed and put to bed. She went right to sleep too. Now we sleep to get up early for Worship! God has sent a word throug Daddy for the people and CJ needs her rest so she is not restless in the AM. So pray for us and pray for Daddy as he stand and delivers thus saith the Lord. We know the word is on point because it's from him. As for CJ and her restlessness, prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Just Fine
Mommy could do a duet with Mary J. Blige and do the hook. When I called to hec on CJ she told me that she was fine. In my head I said, just fine?" I guess I had to take it. After I dropped cj off at the sitter that was it for out interaction. I had a function tonight so the next time I saw her she was asleep in her bed.
Mommy said she was fine so I will go with that. Keep praying though. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Easy Night
Not going to keep you long. CJ kind of mesed up the computer so Daddy has to use the phone. Tonight was Daddy bath night and CJ took it easy on Daddy. Putting her to sleep was easy to. She did not put up a fight. So she gets an A+ tonight. Keep praying for us as we hope our computer is not messed up to bad. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

OH CHRISTMAS TREE PART DEUX
CJ put the tree skirt over her head and then her head was filled with glitter. Mommy had to take her hair out of the braids to wash it. CJ was not to happy but it had to be done. When I left for Bible Study I told CJ that I would see her in the morning.
Pray for her folks, prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Much Better
Tonight CJ was much better when we tried to put her to bed. The yelling, screaming, and fussing was to a minimum. So keep praying for her. Prayer hanges things, people, and situations.

DOH!!! In My Homer Simpson Voice
Help me, help, help, help me folks not hurt this girl! I love CJ, I really do but again and I think this is becoming a theme, CJ does not listen. The most frustrating thing s as a parent is that she chooses not to listen. I mean she will look at you right in your face and watches your lips move. I believe she hears the sound and come out and then she decides enough is enough and proceeds to ignore the command. Folks, I do not care if she knows it, but it irks the heck out of Daddy and it WILL stop.
You see Daddy is from a family where you were spoken to once and you understood what was asked of your. In CJ's case she wants to suffer the consequences, which is alright but can become painful if she continues to not listen. Earlier today I asked my niece whether or not she knew which body part was used to listen and she answered correctly, the ears. I think I may need her to teach her cousin that very soon.
So why does it bother Daddy, well it bothers me because I want CJ to be a pleasant child. One who listens and follows directions. CJ will be a child who will be away from home most of the day due to her parents working schedule. (That is until Daddy's high paying job comes around where Mommy will be OK to retire) Daddy wants to be confident that wherever CJ is, that she is not a bother to anyone. You may say that I am expecting to much. I will defend my position by stating that acquisition of any kind starts in the womb and a child is never to young to learn. That is why we read to her in the belly, she listened to music, we prayed with her and we continue to do so. All of these life lessons will be embedded inside of her and she will be able to recall them when necessary because they will be a part of the fabric of her life. So no, I am not expecting to much!
CJ also got into the Vaseline today. She was busted when she came out and touch a chair and left a mark. She also had a wad of it on her lip. Mommy said she did they same thing yesterday and asked if she had gotten any of it in her mouth. Daddy said it did not matter because he had eaten Vaseline as a child and he turned out just great!
As I sit and remember Homer saying DOH! every time Bart did something he was not suppose to I hear myself echoing the same word. Every time CJ runs into the bathroom and shuts the door, every time she rips paper and eats it, every time she runs into the kitchen and takes the pots and pans out of the cabinet, and every time she deliberately wastes milk all over the floor, Daddy has a DOH! on deck.
Prayerfully CJ is strengthen her listening skills. Daddy knows that prayer changes tings, people, and situations! So keep us in your prayers as well continue to pray for all of you!

Entertainment?
When I need to be entertained i will o to a movie, play a video game, listen to music, watch a athletic event, or go shopping. I am wondering what we need to do to keep CJ entertained? Cj will not sit down and relax for anything in the world. You can try reading to her and she will begin to get up half way through. If you turn on the music she wants to wreck the computer instead. If you put on some educational television, she will ignore it when she is ready. Now I know she is going to explore but now CJ is becoming a bit much. She gets into everything she should not. She breaks things, and then she still chooses when and when she will not pay you any attention. I know it gets on my nerves but what to do to stop it I do not know.
Professionally I know most of what she does is developmental. However there is a part of her that does what she does for kicks and that line is what I am trying to identify in her. When is CJ developing and when is she being a brat? these are things that do not come in the book and you can not research them. Today I think she began to see the line Daddy was drawing. I had to get very stern with her after she purposely wasted her milk and them got into some salsa from off the table, (How she got that I do not know). Some will say let her be, but Daddy says, "Let us set the parameters." So of course she cried and then wanted to be treated like a baby but Daddy did not give in.
This will be an on going saga between Daddy and CJ. She will want to do everything she should not and Daddy will break out the discipline. So you all pray for this situation. Pray that the line is drawn and recognized by both. CJ and her Daddy believe that prayer changes things, people, and situation!

Pretty Tame
I have to admit to you that tonight was very tame in the CJ and Daddy saga. CJ came home and played with her new alphabet toy and her dead cell phone. Daddy came home and played a video game. Mommy caught up with her soaps and everything was good. Daddy prepared dinner, we all ate and then CJ was put to bed. She did not even put up a fight tonight. So if I look back on this evening all was well.
So you must be praying folks so keep it up. Prayer changes things, people, and situations!

For December 9th - I Fell Victim
OK, I always complain about how Mommy falls asleep when she goes in the room to put CJ to bed. Well folks, last night Daddy became a victim of the same thing. As you know Thursday night is Daddy bath night and when I am home it does occur. Now I will admit the days at work are getting longer. Also, chasing CJ around once you get home is exhausting too. So when you get in that room, you pray, your read, and then you hear her fuss as you wait for her to fall asleep you do have a reason to go to sleep yourself. So now I see what happens.
I gave CJ an old telephone on yesterday. It flips open so that seems to excite her. She thought it would be nice to hand me the phone and literally put in on my ear so Daddy held a conversation. Anything to keep my child entertained, right! We also started this no TV tings once we arrive home. It is killing me slowly on the inside. CJ has become to enthralled by channel 123 which is educational but she will tune anything and everyone out when it is on. I might have to reconsider this decision and maybe change the channel to CNN or CNBC because we don not want Daddy going stir crazy. However we believe it will help her development. For the second day she listened to an entire book be read to her. She likes reading and hearing books but she would sometimes only let you get through short clips of them.
So there is my recap of last night. Sorry I fell asleep but I guess there is a spell that gets you when you put CJ to sleep. So now as I strangely say, I have to get ready to go to work. (It is not night time so I had to say something different) you all pray for Daddy, work is becoming a war zone and the devil is showing up so pray I hold my peace and let the Lord fight my battles. Say what needs to be said and that is it. I know that prayer changes things, people, and situations!

Water Dribbling
Don't have much to report tonight. Once we arrived home today CJ wanted a little to drink. So Mommy gave her a cup of water with some ice in it and CJ enjoyed it. Well a little to much, all she wanted to do was waste and dribble the water all over herself and the floor. CJ I guess felt goo but Daddy had to mop up the water that was running all over.
Daddy had to attend Bible Study tonight so he had to leave CJ with Mommy alone tonight. Once I arrived home CJ was already asleep. Mommy said it was a little rough but she is sleeping soundly now. So as I sign off tonight, keep praying folks. The breakthrough is coming. Prayer changes things, people, situations.

The Ride Home
Tonight I will pick up on the ride home. Mommy did not go to work today so Daddy was left to pick CJ up alone. As usual CJ gave her salutations to everyone and proceeded to run out the door. Today, because I did not feel like chasing her, I picked her up so we could expedite time. Once in the car CJ was on her best behavior. She did not talk much either. She instead looked out the window as Daddy drove. Daddy had to go take care of some business so we would be out a little longer than usual. Daddy was concerned that CJ would begin to get restless so he operated as quickly as possible.
CJ was on her best behavior tonight. She was quiet in Target and on the ride home she did not even let out a peep. I even had to Tweet to the world, "My Princess is behaving so well, she must want something." So I guess I have to get her something. I was proud of her though, I really was expecting the worse but she showed me differently.
So we came home to Daddy's sick wife and CJ's sick Mommy. She is doing a little better but she still is sick. So when you pray tonight, pray for her healing. We know that prayer changes things, people, and situations!
NOTE TO CJ: It is cool to hang out with Daddy!

Fiesty
Over the past few days CJ has developed a fiesty side. She continues not to listen when you instruct her to do something. She is determined to do what she wants even if she could hurt herself. Daddy is a bit tired of speaking to her more than once. He can call out her name and she will look at him but then proceed to do whatever it is she was doing. Daddy is not buying the age appropriate argument but Mommy is prresenting it.
CJ is also making her bedtime rather dramatic. She acts as if someone is killing her when you place her in the crib. She jumps and yells and screams and this routine is getting old to Daddy. He has talked quietly with her to no avail. Maybe he needs to change his approach. We shall see in the coming days. I just hope she grows tired of being ignored while she goes through her ranting and performance because she will not earn Daddy's vote for an Oscar Award.
So you all do CJ the favor and pray for her. At this rate she will need them all. So keep praying, CJ and Daddy believe in it's power and we can count on prayer to change people, things, and situation.

Dr. C.J. Johnson
As i left out the house today after fighting with CJ to eat her breakfast I said one thing to her, "CJ, take care of Mommy until Daddy gets home." I was out for a while but when I came home I saw that CJ did exactly what her Daddy asked. yeah, right, lol! CJ was up to her usual antics and mommy had to muster up all the energy she could to keep things in order.
Keep praying folks, prayer changes things, people, and situations!

Nick Jr.
I know it is Saturday morning and you are use to hearing from me a night. I promise I will be back tonight but I needed to share with you this battle I am currently having. In the morning the baby gets changed and then she needs to eat. So Daddy got up a little earlier than usual on a Saturday morning and prepared his Princess something to eat anticipating that she would wake up soon there after. Just like clock work as the food was nearing completion I Daddy heard CJ's voice. So he went to change her then brought her into the dining room so she could eat. He had a little time to let the food cool down so he turned on Nick Jr., big mistake. She really enjoys these shows. Yo Gabba Gabba is ion now and she is all into that instead of eating her breakfast. She wants to eat when she wants to but Daddy is on a different schedule and she is making him fall behind. You might say well how do you have time to type if your feeding her? Like I said when CJ wants to eat she gets my attention and then I do what I am told, lol!
So she is finished eating her oatmeal and now I am trying to get her to drink her milk. I do not know why eating is becoming such a chore for her but it is. She is becoming picking and off of the family schedule which she needs to fix quickly so we are all in sync. See you later folks!

Bumming Around
Daddy, Mommy, and CJ all arrived home around 5:00pm. On the way home Mommy mentioned to Daddy that she did not feel well. Daddy has been battling a stomach issue all week, and CJ well she has a little sniffle herself. So needless to say we all could use a timeout. Mommy immediately hit the couch when she got in. That left Daddy to deal with CJ and all of her antics. I prepared her some milk and after playing with it for a while she finally finished it. Then I changed her and watched her fight her sleep for the entire evening. Daddy simply played a video game then laid on the floor. Daddy admits he may have dozed off a few times but he was tired from a long week and needed some quick shut eye. CJ finally came on board and came to lay next to her Dad. She twisted and turned and got up and then back down but eventually she fell asleep and I can see her now with her mouth open (like her Mommy). So I guess I should place her in her bed, which is probably more comfortable than the floor. She deserves it, she did not act so bad tonight and allowed us all to bum it and get some relaxation.
So now, I am going to do just that and as I do you all keep us in prayer. Pray that our health gets back to 100% and that we are revived to be our normal active selves. We know that prayer changes things, people, and situations.
NOTE TO CJ: Sometimes you have to take a break from it all. Sleep in your clothes, shut off everything and sleep. trust Daddy and of course your Mommy on this one, sleep does a body good, and a mind, and a soul!

Lebron Returns to Cleveland
OK, thos has nothing to do with CJ and Daddy other than the fact that we watched it. Today his whackness Lebron played in Cleveland for the first tome since he sold out and turned his back his home. They have been booing him from the player introductions and every time he touched the ball. The cheers have been so creative, as well as the signs and the shirts I saw. CJ and I will always remember where we were on this night, December 2, 2010. We were laying on the living room floor together.
Thursday night bath time continued today. After cleaning up a nasty diaper the bath went along well. I read CJ the 55 Psalm tonight. I was happy to see her me read and remain quiet. She listened attentively and was even silent during prayer. We laid together for a bit but then it was time to put her in her crib for the night. She fussed a little bit she is now at least laying down quietly. Maybe the Humphrey's (the tablets we give her to help with teething) worked. Or she is accepting the fact that she must lay down when she is put in her crib and that sleep is something she needs to stay healthy and to continue to grow big and strong.
So as I flip back and forth from the game. You all remember to pray so things, people, and situations will change.

Trouble Sleeping
Well the not sleeping at night came to a nasty point tonight. After her bath and dinner it was time for CJ to be put to bed. Then it started, CJ began to yell, scream, cry and anything else she could do very loud. She was hysterical. She would not lay down. She could not catch her breath, she was an absolute mess.
Mommy believes that she is testing her limits. I have knowledge of the theory and understand that as Mommy put it,"be tough!" That is easier said than done when a King sees his Princess in an unhappy state. Daddy tends to believe something is bothering her and gets frustrated that he can not pinpoint it. This goes beyond one parent believing in putting the baby to sleep and the other going with the let nature take its course frame of mind. We both do not want our child to be the tantrum catcher or one that craves attention. Mommy says, that I have spoiled her already. Daddy calls it concentrated love!
Nevertheless what occurred tonight was not pretty and as I told CJ uncalled for. I even picked her up to show her herself in the mirror and she turned away from the ugly face she had created. I talked to her as she began her calming process. I will admit I was a little nervous at one point and I believe she rattled herself too. I am hoping that Mommy is right about why she did this but if not I pray this episode was an isolated incident. In any event I will keep you all posted.

Daddy vs. CJ
Tonight Daddy and CJ did not click. We were like black and white, hot and cold, fast and slow, and so many more opposites. CJ did not allow me a free moment. She stayed right on my leg the entire evening. Daddy is concerned about how CJ listens.

GOoooooooooooooooooooo!!!
CJ's favorite word to say these days seems to be, "Go!" She will say it in the car, at the babysitter, in church, while walking, while laying down and tonight she did so while watching wrestling after her shower. Daddy was laughing hysterically as she yelled Go, Go, Go as the wrestlers battled it out in the ring. She even peaked Mommy's interest when she let out an appropriate Oh' when one was kicked in the face. Daddy never knew that she enjoyed wrestling so much. I wonder if she thought it was football? In any event she was very much interested in what was on television and did not want to move from it.
CJ made Daddy's night once again. Once she had calmed down from the excitement of watching wrestling Mommy attempted to take her int he bedroom to get her ready for bed. As she turned away CJ looked back and said, "Nooooo!" She then reached her hands out for me and leaned over to try and get closer to me. of course I took her from Mommy and held her for a little while longer. CJ is my Princess and if she needed a little royal treatment her Daddy was going to give it to her.
Now she is going through her nightly routine of fighting her sleep. Hopefully she will soon grow out of that habit. As for now keep praying folks, we know if we pray things, people, and situations will change!

She Heard The Whole Sermon
Church and CJ do not always click. CJ likes to sing longer than the choir, pray longer than the deacon, and preach longer than the preacher. If she is not getting loud she usually needs to eat, therefore she prevents Mommy from hearing most of the sermon. This morning when we left the house Daddy made a deal with CJ. he told her that if she was quiet during the sermon that her Mommy would buy her something. Now I know it should have been me but why should I set myself up when Mommy would be a willing participant.
At the end of church I remembered CJ was there because I saw her. She behaved well today and I did not hear her at all. I just asked for the sermon and I got so much more. So I guess Mommy has to go out to buy her something nice. She has to be a woman of Daddy's word.
It will be only a matter of time before she learns how to conduct herself in church. She enjoys the music we know and if worship is going on around her CJ is down. She practices all throughout the week. Daddy and CJ will offer up some praise just because at any moment during the week. So CJ knows, Amen, Praise Him, and Hallelujah! Get with us or get left back.
As Sunday is a day full of it, please remember to pray. Not only is there power in prayer, but it changes things, people, and situations!

Can't Keep Up
For the past few days one would think that I have simply forgotten my blogs. That would be untrue. As I laid with CJ as she drifted off to sleep I wondered what was up? Then it came to me, when I am home with CJ I have so much fun I get worn out. Then I lay down and the next things I know a new day is upon me. When I do think to blog it is usually in the middle of a turn or bathroom run and then I sit down to jot something quick and then forget to return the next day. I do not want you to think I have forgotten but this sleep has been doing the trick recently and the more I get the more I want.
Today was winter picture time. So CJ got all dolled up and off to the photographer, (personal that is) we went. The first attempt at a picture was negative. CJ wanted to eat and play before she smiled for the camera. So we allowed her to do just that and then Daddy noticed she put her head down. Daddy said, "If we are doing this picture we might want to proceed now because the thumb is in her mouth and she is laying her head down." So we went in the studio and prepared her for the picture. This time Daddy stayed in the room and pulled out his camera to trick her into smiling. CJ did not disappoint us either. She smiled, giggled, laughed, yelled, posed and did anything else she wanted to do while all we wanted was a good picture to send people for Christmas.
CJ#2 also had the opportunity to play with CJ#1 today. It is always so nice to see them play so well together. They have both grown so fast and they interact like two peas in a pod. So all in all it was a great day. We even had the opportunity to go dine as a family tonight. All CJ wanted was fries and Daddy's ice cream, lol. Mommy was not pleased and CJ knew it. When I gave her some she turned to Mommy and gave her a huge sly smile. I did make her eat her vegetables first at least!
Mommy said she does not know who to feel sorry for, CJ or Daddy? She should just join you all and pray for us both. We know that prayer changes things, people, and situations.
NOTE TO CJ: Before you eat dessert remember to always eat your vegetables. Vegetables help make you intelligent, healthy and strong!

NOTE TO CJ: Before you eat dessert remember to always eat your vegetables. Vegetables help make you intelligent, healthy and strong!

The Day After the Feast
The day after Thanksgiving is always rough. You are still sluggish and the belly is still satisfied. All you want to do is sleep. Well Daddy wanted too, and CJ did just that. She slept until even Mommy was awake and up. Will fill you in with more later.

Two A Days
OK, I realize I have a bit to fill you in on. Last night I do not know what happened. I planned to blog but I guess the bed beat me up. I laid down and the next thing I knew it was time to drive Mommy into work. So I will begin with the highlights from yesterday.
So yesterday CJ made her first trip into Daddy's office. Daddy planned his vacation and forgot that he had invited a group down to tour the campus. So the day finally came where Daddy could waste a trip down to Trenton and bring CJ along for the ride. The office has wanted to see her since she was born but the time never presented itself, so when I walked in the office and got her out of the stroller the tour began. You must bring them to the ladies in the back first. They have all the life long lessons, experience, and if you did not they would not let you hear the end of it. After she spoke with them and smiled a whole lot it was time to meet the boss. CJ did not have to wait to long because she was coming out to get her. She really loves kids and by her getting down to CJ's level and chasing her around the office you could tell. The co-workers were cool too, she had to warm up to the guys and she even managed to spill one of their coffee's all over the place.
Phase two of her day at TCNJ was having to sit through a presentation by her Daddy. Now we all know that CJ has had to sit though her Daddy addressing people before but this time was different. During the entire presentation you would not have known that CJ was in the room. When he is preaching CJ is heard but yesterday she sat still and quietly until her Daddy completed what he had to do. Daddy was so impressed that he asked the audience to give his baby girl a round of applause for behaving so well.
After the presentation Daddy sent out a text to all of CJ's sisters to come quickly if they wanted to see her. All of them came except one who had already left for the holiday weekend. I grilled them all because it took Daddy bringing in CJ to see all of his kids at one time together. CJ enjoyed their company and vice versa. It was cooling seeing them with her. I reminded them all that they have a good 10 to 15 years before they can even think of having one.
So after she met her siblings the day at TCNJ was pretty much over. We went back up and said our goodbyes, then it was off to pick Mommy up from work. It was a great day then it was on to the next.
Today I want to send CJ to the moon. It all started when the electricity had to be turned off to be repaired. they said the job would take 1/2 hour but it ended up taking two full hours. You try keeping CJ entertained with no computer, no television, no hot food, and nowhere to go. She did not want to sit and listen to me read, although I did manage to get a quick book in.
We fought a bit today too. CJ has a problem that she needs to fix. She need to not have Daddy repeat himself. She could be doing something that could hurt her, Daddy will ask her to stop and she will look at him and keep doing what she was doing. It is becoming to get frustrating but I am trying to develop patience as she continues to explore.
That about wraps the past two days up in a nutshell. Tomorrow is turkey day! You all keep praying for us, CJ and I will go through ups and downs but they will all make us stronger. Besides, we know that prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Daddy Daycare
Well when you take vacation from work if you truly want to have a vacation, do not open a daycare center in which you do not get paid. I really love my Princess but daycare is not in my future plans. CJ, as all 15 months olds, do not listen. They hear you and then choose whether or not they will follow what you say or continue doing the wrong they are in the midst of. Now do not get me wrong she does not do anything life threatening but CJ likes to live on the edge. On the edge of the wall, on the edge of the couch, on the edge of the horse, or anything else that will provide her with a thrill.
So you, as does Daddy, spend most of your day trying to keep yourself sane, therefore you do not try to accomplish much. Instead you get down and dirty with her. I guess I will soon be sitting at the table having tea and krimpets. I pray she selects butterscotch as her flavor to serve.
With the morning past us CJ and her Daddy enjoyed a great afternoon. CJ, as usual, spoke to everyone she saw. The good thing is that most of the people responded to her. Previously we ran into some real jerks. They would look her in the face, hear her speak to them, and say nothing. In my Stephanie Tanner voice, "How rude!" CJ grabbed a cute little dress for her so I guess that meant I had to purchase it and Daddy did. After we picked up Mommy we ran a few more errands and came home to eat pizza together as a family.
It is about 9:33pm and you all know what is happening now. CJ is yelling and screaming at the top of her lungs because she does not want to go to sleep. I know the feeling and wish the day had more hours but it does not. So folks let's get this bedtime scene on the prayer list. We know prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Oh, CJ!
Well this morning when Daddy woke up he knew he had a marathon in front of him. Three worship experiences, 8am, 11am, and 4pm. He stared the day and the face and welcomed it though because he knew it would be three opportunities to celebrate God! The bad thing about all of this was that Daddy had to run this marathon alone. He would have no CJ to keep him going and no Mommy to go to sleep on him along the way. Mommy made the decision to pull out of the race earlier in the weekend because she felt CJ would break away from the course and make the race more grueling than it had to be.
So Daddy set out on his race and he must say all stages of the race were filled with great air. At all of the worship experiences God showed out! The word from the preachers was just what the doctor ordered. So while at the house for dinner, (the house refers to Daddy's childhood home, where is family still resides) Cj's great-grandmother wanted to make sure she sent CJ a treat. She prepared CJ an entire bag of grapes and of course she saw to it that Mommy had her weekly servings of macaroni and cheese.
When Daddy arrived home he found CJ looking a mess. She had just a shirt on and food all over her face. She had tore up the house and looked for something else to get into. CJ is a very funny child, so she saw me eating sherbert and she wanted some so she came over and leaned over my cup. I asked her to sit down and she did so immediately. I then shared and then she decided she wanted it at a faster rate than I could supply. I had to back her little butt up and send her on her way.
The night is ending with her fighting sleep of course. It is not as bad as usual but she is doing her nightly fussing. SO she rest now for the day tomorrow. What does Daddy have in store for her? We shall see if it be God's will! So, it seems as if I have not said this to you all in a long time but, Keep praying! Prayer changes things, people, and situations.
Note to CJ: These last few weeks have been very trying for Daddy. When the going gets tough we remain prayed up as we do daily and we continue to let God fight our battles. That way we know we can not lose.

Emergency Off Day
So CJ was missing in action from the sitter today. Daddy woke up with all things normal and then Mommy decided she was not going into work today. Daddy was a little bitter because he was up and could have slept a bit longer. The crazy event of the morning was that the baby sitter was never called. Mommy asked me to do so but she never heard that I could not because I did not have the number. So Daddy left the house and went off to work to leave both Mommy and CJ home for the day. When they both knew full well they should be where they normally are each morning, at work and at the sitter.
When I arrived home the living room looked as if CJ had run wild all day long. The highlight was when CJ made her way to her Daddy when he hit the top of the stairs. She said, Hi Da Da," and then grabbed my legs as I tried to proceed into the house. I told Mommy that she should take notes from CJ on how to greet him when he arrives home from work. She then wanted to watch television with her Daddy so we both sprawled out on the floor and got comfy and watched the Cosby Show together. There is no better to way to cap off a long day than with my little princess. You all keep praying that my schedule continues to allow Daddy and CJ these opportunities. We know it is 100% true that prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Got To Keep At It
These past few days have been very challenging when it comes to blogging. Daddy desires to blog daily and it seems like long days and tricky computers have prevented me from doing so. This evening we took CJ to the Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. CJ was strong as usual and we now have to get X-rays of her neck. Once we get those we will then learn whether or not CJ will have to have surgery or not. For her to be so young and have to possibly do something Daddy has never done is pretty interesting. I thought I would be a bit worried but I am OK and eager to see the outcome.
At the home from we had a pretty normal night. We arrived home, had dinner, CJ was bathed, and now her and Mommy are sleep. So all is well on the Old Bridge front. You all pray that whatever CJ will happen in her life. Prayer changes things, people, and situations!

Getting It Right
Today was an interesting day. From the early morning when we all slept as late as we possibly could. To this evening where we seem to have so much to do. This morning Daddy felt the need to get some extra shut eye. This week has been very long with work so Daddy felt a little bit fatigued. So the day started like most days do. Mommy was dropped off at work then Daddy took CJ to the baby sitter. It really is a good thing that CJ smiles when she goes to the sitter. To Daddy it means that the sitter is doing a fine job and CJ enjoys being with her.
Work for Daddy was enjoyable. He was able to meet with some pretty cool prospective students. Hopefully his hard work will turn into bodies at the college. Daddy then met Mommy and CJ at the babysitter's. Today CJ saw money in my hand so she decided that she would pay the babysitter for putting up with her all week. Funny thing is then she tried to take the money back.
Daddy and CJ had so much fun (OK Daddy chased CJ around the house once we arrived home) that he missed his doctor's appointment. Then he decided that he wanted to do go out and get some things he needed. So he took CJ with him to the store which turned out to be quite eventful. Not only did CJ carry on a full conversation with one of the sales associates, she also knocked down an entire display of jewelry. Daddy tried to catch her but she was too quick for him today. The salesman laughed and told me that he would pick up the mess.
CJ has some quick hands and wants them to touch anything her eyes see. Daddy is happy that her motor skills are fine but he would prefer CJ to exercise them in another way. The rise was fun. CJ and Daddy always enjoy each other's company. Well at least Daddy does, hopefully when she is able to, CJ will relay the same sentiment. So after Mommy bathed her, CJ came and laid with Daddy on the sofa. She went to sleep rather quickly which is always a good thing.
Keep praying good people. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Been Tired
I missed blogging last night. When I laid down I went to sleep. So on to today. It finally happened, CJ fell out of the crib. She usually makes noise and we knows she is up but today the only sound you heard was the thud from CJ hitting the floor. Daddy ram in wuickly to see if she was OK. She cried for a few seconds but quickly got back to herself. That's the update for today.
You all keep praying for us and pray that CJ's bed will be lowered. We know pray changes things, people, and situations.

15 Month Visit
The report from the doctor is that CJ is a big girl. She is growing quite well and received a decent bill of health. We did learn that she may have to have surgery. Her adnoids may need to be removed. This will help her stop snorting at night and help with her conjestion. CJ is still adjusting to the new car. I think it is a little smaller and darker than the big truck we had. She may not do well in the dark either. With that said we enjoyed a meal at IHOP for dinner and again CJ managed to waste money. She never eats what we buy when we go out. I am going to start leaving her in the car. She was really tired once we arrived home so putting her to bed was rather quick tonight.
So now we have to pray that CJ will get a positive return from the Ear and Nose specialist. We know prayer changes things, people, and situations.
Note to CJ: Always remember that God is the best doctor in the world!

Running To Daddy
This morning after Daddy started the week off woth prayer and was feeling good. CJ made me feel even better and gave me what I needed to make it through the day at work. When we arrived in front of the babysitters home CJ called out for her Da Da and then waved bye bye to me. She then gave Daddy a radiant smile that was so grand that on this gloomy day her smile shined throughout. The extra long ride to work seemed like nothing for the first time in a long time. CJ gave me what I needed and Daddy thanks her for it.
CJ did not stop with her morning heroics. When Daddy and Mommy arrived to pick her up, even though Mommy engaged in conversation with her, CJ looked for her Daddy. When she spotted him she made her way to him to get a hug and to pat him on the back. She ended Daddys day just like she started it, by giving him all the love in the world.
So today was a day filled with love. I hope she never stops loving her Daddy! Please continue to pray that God moves in our lives. CJ and her Daddy know that prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Night Time Struggles
Are you sleeping, are you sleeping?
Brother John, Brother John?
Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing
Ding dang dong, ding dang dong.
1. As your child moves past the first year toward 18-21 months of age he will likely lose his morning nap and nap only once a day. While toddlers need up to 14 hours a day of sleep, they typically get only about 10.
Most children from about 21 to 36 months of age still need one nap a day, which may range from one to three and a half hours long. They typically go to bed between 7 and 9 p.m. and wake up between 6 and 8 a.m.
2. Baby sleep deprivation:
How to tell if your baby is overtired or underslept

Baby sleep deprivation? As a chronic condition, it's probably very rare. Babies are pretty good at regulating their own sleep if they are given plenty of opportunities for quiet time.
Often, parents are worried because they are uncertain about their baby's sleep requirements. Healthy babies may vary significantly in the amount of sleep that they need. To help you put your concerns about baby sleep deprivation in perspective, see this article about baby sleep needs.
But it’s possible for things to go wrong. Some parents may inadvertently over-stimulate their babies, making it harder for them to fall asleep. In other cases, babies may suffer from medical conditions or behavioral problems that interfere with their sleep. Parents may also overestimate how much sleep their babies need, causing babies to resist bedtime.
How can you tell if your baby isn’t getting enough sleep? There isn’t much scientific information available about identifying baby sleep deprivation. Nevertheless, a number of pediatricians, “baby gurus,” and experienced moms have noted these signs of baby sleep deprivation or overtiredness.
Sleep is the issues in the house. We have struggled with how bedtime is conducted for a long time now. Mommy sees it one way and Daddy prefers it another. Mommy believes that CJ should be put to sleep, while Daddy feels she should fall asleep at her leisure. Both practices have good and bad results and the common denominator is that she is always awaken from her sleep in the morning to be dressed. The date will go on and the fact of the matter is that CJ will get sleep. She seems to be a healthy baby, she is very social and when she wants to go to sleep she will grab her blanket or a pillow off the couch and lay down wherever she feels is comfortable.
So the night slowly fades on the day we turned the clocks back this extra hour rocks and I feel it. CJ is still tossing and turning and Daddy is waiting for her to go to sleep. We will pray that bedtime gets better. Prayer changes things, people, and situations!

Daddy and CJ's Sports Day
Today started at 6:00am for Daddy he needed to be up to shower and get dressed in order for him and CJ to make it out the house on time. CJ, as usual, slept through the entire act of her beings dressed, hair done, coat zipped and being carried to the car. She then proceeded to sleep all the way up north, where we had to go pick up her uncles to go see cousin Davon play his last game of the year. Yes it was chilly but Daddy made sure CJ was bundled up securely. Instead of eating what Daddy had prepared for her, CJ felt the need to eat what her Great-grandmother was eating, and as long as she fed her, CJ received with gladness.
At the football game CJ was very good. She cheered when she should and clapped at the proper time. She wanted to stretch her legs so she went with Ms. Nicole for a walk. While on her walk she found a leaf. When she showed it to Daddy, he said that she could color over it when she arrived home. No sooner than he closed his mouth CJ broke the leaf and tried to eat a piece of it. Needless to say, that was the end of the leaf and any plans on coloring it at home.
Now after a long morning and another game to go see in the evening one would thing CJ was tired and would go to sleep, right? Wrong, CJ outlasted her great-grandmother, her uncle, and her Pop. It was so bad that Pop said, "Daddy you have to watch her, I am going to get my hair cut." CJ still does not take naps when she is with her Daddy, or at least when she is supposed to.
CJ decided to nap once we got into the car for our trip to see TCNJ play Rider in an exhibition game. She slept all the way down the road, which left her a little dazed for the first half of the game. Boy did she come alive during the second half! CJ was cheering, dancing, clapping, and initiating conversation all around her. The lady behind us even gave her an empty water bottle to play with. Little did she know that when you engage in conversation with CJ that you're not done until she says so. She managed to stay focused on the game a bit too. You know Daddy loves that! At the end of the game CJ was able to meet a basketball player that always asks about her. CJ has seen her play twice at TCNJ but never a face-to-face meeting. Of course she tried to take the girl's phone but she said hello and goodbyes appropriately.
Today was a day well spent by CJ and Daddy. We had fun and enjoyed each other's company. We will have to do this more often. So folks pray more opportunities arise where CJ and Daddy hang out together, and in harmony too. We believe it will because prayer changes things, people, and situations!

Rest In
It was Friday a normal work day for Daddy but he decided to use today as a rest in. We all know that Daddy rarely has a day where he does not have to wake up early, work all day, and then either work all night, be down at the church, have a meeting, or something else comes up to make him be out longer than he desires to. The sun goes down and rises and he presses repeat and does it all over again. Day in and day out that is the routine. That is until today, Daddy decided to rest in.
Since Mommy and CJ enjoyed sleeping in the entire week, Daddy wanted to join in the relaxation. Today there was no alarm to put on snooze. God even allowed Daddy to sleep until about 9am. CJ woke up a bit early we grabbed her out her crib put her in the bed with us and we were all out for the count again. When Daddy and CJ finally got out of bed it was time for breakfast and Maury. Just being able to sleep late and have breakfast with my Princess was enough to make the day a success.
Once the evening came it was time to handle some family business. Not work business, not church business but business that was for pleasure. Even that was a success today. At the mall we received major discounts which always makes Daddy smile. CJ got her winter coat which is a dual purpose coat which made it worth the money it cost but again who cares we received a major discount and a future coupon!
Once we arrived home we enjoyed a fast food dinner (these will become less frequent than they already are real soon, Daddy has to get back on his healthy tip, he slipped a little bit), then CJ was bathed and put to bed. It was a great day from beginning to end. A lot was accomplished but most importantly, CJ and Daddy had some time to fuss and play. CJ is quite a handful and she is learning and growing each day. As we read together tonight she learned to make a monkey sound. I actually did most of the animal sounds in the book but she seemed to enjoy that of the monkey best. It excites me when she picks up knowledge and begins to apply it. Watching a baby mature is becoming very fascinating.
Prayerfully CJ and Daddy have a fun-filled day together tomorrow. We have not had one of these in quite a long time due to Daddy's work and church schedule. One thing Daddy tries to remember, and might have to get better at, is that his family is his first ministry. Daddy feels he is doing OK in the distribution but he would like to get better.
So continue to keep Daddy and CJ in your prayers as they continue to develop their bond. We will need it. I showed CJ some dresses that she is never to wear at the mall today. It is a shame what they have for these young ladies to wear. I may just have to find CJ a personal seamstress to make sure there is material included in her clothing. So pray folks...we know prayer changes things, people, and situations!
NOTE TO CJ: Always take time out for yourself. No one will give it to you, you have to be smart enough to know when to say when, love ya!

TICKED OFF
I actually just typed something meaningful and then something happened and its gone. I will not type it again. Today begins the search of how to compile all of my blogs and back them up.
CJ is sleep now and has a lingering cough today. Keep praying,we all know prayer changes things, people, and situations. Even coughs!

SICK
Today was a long day for Daddy. He had to work and then attend a Viewing Service for a friends mother. When Daddy left out CJ was asleep. he prayed and then departed. he did not hear from CJ during the day so he does not know how her day went. When he did talk to Mommy she said that CJ was a little sick. Go figure, Daddy is sick too. When Daddy arrived home CJ was, you guessed it. Sleep! So Daddy decided to let her be so she would not be up all night. Daddy really missed his Princess today he hates when he has to be away from her for long periods of time. This week has turned out to be very busy but the end is near and CJ and her Daddy will get to hang out.
SO pray for us. the devil is busy in our lives again but it is nothing we can not deal with. God is on our side and will bring us through to be victorious. CJ and her Daddy are living witnesses that prayer changes things, people, and situations. The devil has no power over us!

Mommy's Five Minutes
When Daddy left home CJ was just getting up. He had to go to work so he could not interact with her much. When he arrived home he saw the remnants of her day. Earlier in the evening Daddy asked Mommy who she felt won the first day off battle and she proudly proclaimed that she did. By the looks of it, this battle got ugly.
Daddy did not come home until after CJ's bedtime. We all know that if Daddy had the week off she would be allowed to stay up as late as she wanted to. Mommy sees things a little differently. We work with her since she works so hard. So Daddy decided to sit and wrap with Mommy since his Princess was out for the night. Actually I have to go and look in on her, that is not like Daddy to have gone this long without doing so.
So folks I'm off to checkon my Princess. You all keep praying. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Almost Back to Normal
CJ and Mommy are both back. Today Daddy had to work and then tend to some family business. So by the time he arrived home he was able to see CJ awake for exactly a minute. Until proven otherwise, Daddy will believe that CJ waited up for him to come home. I gave her a kiss then laid her back down so she could get some sleep. Mommy informed me that she stayed up late last night so I did not want to make tonight night two.
SO Cj is sleeping and Daddy is still praising God for the blessings he send his way. When Daddy sees no way God make a way and he deserves both Daddy and CJ's praise. With our hands lifted up and our mouths filled with praise, with hearts of Thanksgiving, I will bless the oh Lord.
You all continue to pray. Prayer still changes things, people, and situations.

Home Alone
It is a Friday night. We went out to diner to celebrate CJ's Pop Pop's birthday. Diner was delicious and now Daddy is home. The only problem is that their is no sound of a baby. CJ is not up and roaming. CJ is not even sleeping peacefully in her crib. CJ is not here nor is her Mommy. Most guys would be overjoyed and head out to the club with the guys or to the bar. Not this Daddy, he would rather have his Princess and the Queen of the house here with him. The heat does not seem hot enough. The bed will not feel comfortable enough. The pillow will not be plump enough, and I will not know what to do with myself when I wake up and have no one to look over too or kiss good bye. For Daddy this is the first time he is not with CJ at night and he is home. So what to do, the only thing he can do is deal with it.
So I wonder if CJ realizes Daddy is not with her?
I wonder if she realizes she is not at home?
I wonder is she was sad when I left?
I wonder if she will misses me period.
I wonder if she will miss me kissing and hugging her when she wakes up?
I wonder if she will miss me from hanging out with her on Saturday morning?
I wonder if she is sad because she wants her Daddy?
Daddy has a lot of wonders. The one thing I do not have to wonder about is that wherever we are CJ loves her Daddy and Daddy loves his Princess CJ.
So now I will try to go to sleep without the comforts of my wife and without the snoring from my daughter. Though both loud they bring satisfaction to the end of a day. So you all pray Daddy gets some sleep. Prayer changes things, people, and situation and will get Daddy through the night.
NOTE TO CJ: Even though this may be the first time you are away from your Daddy I want you to know that your Daddy misses you anytime we are not together. From the moment you get dropped off at the baby sitter he begins to feel empty. You are part of the gasoline that helps him to run smoothly. I love you and miss you tonight!

The Reason Why
So we found out why CJ is not eating diner. The babysitter provides add ons to what Mommy sends for lunch. Not a bad thing, CJ likes to eat and will try a lot of different things. Daddy was a little worried thay she did not like his cooking. If she did not eat what he cooked she might get slim waiting on her Mommy to cook.
Tonight was Daddy bath night for the first time in a while. CJ is a lot more cooperative these days which makes it quick and easy. She fought her sleep a little longer than usual but Daddy doesn't mind that at all.
CJ did make it to Mommy's school for the Cth gtade Halloween Party. She dressed as a pirate and was a cute pirate too. She did not stay to long though, the noise and abundance of high octane teens was a bit much for her.
She is now sleep and resting up for her reign of terror to come prayerfully tomorrow. Keep praying folks, prayer changes things, people, and situations.

A Brief Encounter
Today was not a full one for CJ and Daddy. The most interaction we had was when I picked her up from the baby sitter she ignored me for a a good while because she was eating Lucky Charms. She kindly made me wait until she was done and when she was she told everyone bye bye and proceeded to the door. Being the adult in the situation when she hit the door I followed her out.
Daddy had to work tonight so he was not home to hang out with CJ. When I arrived home she was asleep along with her Mommy. So as for Daddy he finished up what he needed to complete and will soon be off to sleep himself. Before I do I will pray and I remind you all to join me as well. prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Quick Update
Real quick, Daddy is investigating the reasons why Cj might be uncomfortable in her car seat. She scream bloody murder when she is in there as of late. This is also the second day in a row that CJ chooses to only eat vegetables for dinner, when she has other options. Have I created a future vegetarian? Who knows, welp that is all today. Keep praying folks a breakthrough is on the way. prayer changes things, people, and situations!

Up To No Good
CJ is becoming more and more exploratory as the days come and go. The problem is that she likes to explore anything that can be deemed hazardous to her health or can cause breaks, bumps and bruises to her body. She seems to get her kicks from roaming the house and looking for things to get into. You know she is up to no good when you do not hear her. However, make no mistake about it, CJ is not one to be shy about what she is doing.
On the ride home today CJ was making a lot of noise for no good reason. She was not hurt in any way. She was not wet and she was not hungry. So Daddy needed to figure out what would shut his kid up. Then it came to him, turn on the radio. When the music came on, almost instantly CJ smiled and began to bounce up and down in her car seat to the beat. Then Jill Scott's Cross My Mind came on so Daddy felt like scatting a little bit. So he sung, yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah! Usually the car is silent but today CJ decided that she would follow her Daddy up and sung out loud, yeah yea yeah yeah yeah! Mommy and Daddy both looked up and smiled. Daddy did it again and CJ followed him up again. I know I do not need to say it but Daddy was all smiles. As he told Mommy he is soaking it all up while he can and while CJ loves everything about him. He also notes that a day will come when she will not really feel all he says.
She went to sleep rather quickly tonight, I guess she had a long day. So as Daddy watches the Giants play Dallas and wrestling simultaneously you all remember to pray before you call it a night. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Suddenly Silent
Tonight we had company over. So Daddy prepared dinner and Mommy laid out the appetizers. Mommy really knows how to entertain. She pulls out all the stops and swears she does not like to have folks over. Anyway CJ did not want to wait for the guests. She wanted to grab all the cheese she could. She also wanted to drink from the empty cups Mommy put out. She decided she would eat the napkins too. Mommy fussed with her a bit but CJ with her determined personality kept going back for more.
The odd thing today was that CJ went silent. CJ usually has the gift of gab. She will get personal with people rather quickly. Tonight when the guests came one her cousin she decided to stay close to her Daddy. I was taken aback because CJ is a bit more extroverted than that. The behavior was new. I will also report that by the end of the night she had warmed up a lot. I guess they had to meet her approval.
So CJ, after staying up way past her mothers desired bedtime for her was taken immediately to bed once the door was locked. Mommy of course fell asleep to. She always does. So I will remind you to pray folks. Prayer changes things, people, and situations. Good night.
NOTE TO CJ: CJ, remember to always greet people when they enter into a place where you are. You should make them feel welcomed!

A Nice Ride
Today CJ and Daddy spent their quality time together in the truck riding back and forth. Mommy was a little under the weather so it was just Daddy and CJ who had to venture out today. As we traveled CJ sat in the back and bounced to the beat of the music. I get excited when I see her respond to music, she seems to really enjoy it. that is a good thing because her daddy is really into music and will dance around by himself if need to.
When I arrived to pick CJ up from the sitter she looked like she was having fun. So much fun that she acknowledged my presence and proceeded to do what she was previously engaged in. One of the kids was playing a boxing game and CJ was displaying her skills. I let her be for a few then asked her if she was ready to go home. She actually turned around and say clearly, "No!" Both the sitter and I snickered. I then asked if she wanted to go see Mommy? Again, CJ, this time without turning around said, "No!" I am really glad she enjoys her time at the sitter but want her to like coming home too. So finally I told CJ bye bye and opened the door. She heard it open then started to come towards me, then bypassed me, said, bye bye and proceeded out the door.
The evening was spent keeping CJ out of everything. Mommy was trying to straighten up he house for company tomorrow but you all know CJ, anything that she can get into she will. She went to sleep without to much fuss tonight. It has been a long week so my poor baby must be worn out. Now Daddy is just listening to what he calls his oldies but goodies. From time to time Daddy needs to listen to real music since their is not much of it left these days. So folks, keep praying, I am a living witness that prayer works. It changes things, people, and situations!
NOTE TO CJ: If you keep your room clean as your Daddy and Mommy ask you to, when company comes by you will not have to be up all night prepping. You can do something more fun with your time.

Habits
When your child is around many different people: children, adults, strangers, family, and many more, you have to watch carefully the habits they pick up. Today I noticed CJ doing some things that I did not particularly care for. Mommy feels they may be developmental but Daddy believes they may be bad habits she is picking up. So we will be monitoring her actions to make sure she is not going too far with anything. Other than that today was another day CJ and I did not get to play much. Daddy had to work so all he saw was her draped in a blanket sleeping.
So keep praying, prayer changes things, people, and situations!

The Bright Side of Things
To sum up my day, it sucked. It is really difficult producing with the devil abiding at work as well. It was so bad I needed to leave the office early to collect myself. The ride home was quiet. No music, no text messaging, no smiles or anything else for that matter. I could feel my blood boiling on the inside and I needed to calm down. All I knew was that I was beat down, beat up, beat over, beat through, and beat under. In my mind nothing would could change my feelings. As I left the office the last words I uttered was that I needed to find the bright side of things.
When I arrived to pick up CJ the bright side started to peek out. Whenever I see CJ's radiant smile it changes my day. As Sam Cooke sung, "I know a change gonna come." So I needed to feel better about myself today so I went to get a haircut. This is where God stepped in. As I sat in the chair the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir video concert was on. I Never Lost My Praise was the song that played and that is my testimony for today and the message I want CJ to always lean on. I am currently beaten, scorn, played, upset and a whole lot more but through it all I still give God the praise for all he has done and does for me. I will bounce back in the way he would have me to.
So once we arrived home CJ entertained me. Her attentiveness to the educational shows we watch and her dancing around the house always is a pleasure to see. Oh, to be a child carefree and enjoying life. So she picked up her Daddy's day. She may not know it but I thank her for helping turn my day around. So folks I've never asked this before but I am now. I am praying that God reveals his plan for me... where he is leading me, and what he wants me to do. He has better for me and is humbling me to prepare me for what he has. Pray I get out of the way, I lay pride aside and allow him to fill me with what he needs me to be filled with. Pray that I have the courage and faith to accept what this NEW thing in my life will be. A breakthrough is on the way, he would never leave his children in a place where they are not appreciated and taken for granted and used as a mule for others satisfaction. I thank you in advance for your prayerful support. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.
NOTE TO CJ: Days like today will test you. Your Daddy was at rock bottom and needed to be picked up. I want you to know that God is always in control. We may not know and understand his moves but he is moving at all times. All we have to do is trust him.

Simply Sleep
This will be quick but honest. When I dressed CJ this morning she slept. When I dropped her off at the babysitter, she was asleep. When I arrived home from work, she was still asleep. I did manage to hear her voice when I called Mommy to check in on them.
So the schedule is still tight but God is implementing that change as I type. Keep praying folks, prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Goofy CJ
Well the highlight of today could not occur in the morning because CJ slept through getting dressed and waiting on Mommy and Daddy to get ready. Then she proceeded to sleep all the way to the baby sitter's house. So when does the excitement come?
Well today when Mommy and Daddy arrived to pick CJ up we found her trying to leave with another family. One of the babysitter's friends came by and I guess CJ took a liking to her. Then once we arrived home it was all bets off with CJ. For the past few days CJ has had a fascination with the broom and the garbage can. Now I am happy that she is grabbing at the broom and when she gets it understands its function. The garbage can is another thing. She figures that everything she gets her hands on belongs in the garbage. The list includes, mail, barrettes, teething rings, toys and a few other items. We try to catch her but CJ acts quickly and can be a silent assassin at times. Daddy figures he will get her a kitchen set so she has her own broom and garbage can. That way she can put whatever she wants in there. I would bet a few bucks that whatever we can not find will be in her garbage can for safe keeping, lol!
Now we are going through some growing pains right now. CJ's back teeth are growing in and they are causing her loads of discomfort. She is in so much pain it took her almost an hour to go to sleep tonight. Mommy has already prepared the remedy for us so we should be good. Now do keep her and her agony in prayer and Daddy and Mommy too. We know that prayer changes things, people, situations, and can bring CJ through her teething battle. For now signing off, CJ's Daddy!

Sunday - Business Not As Usual
Now usually I will inform you all about how CJ behaved in church. Why not, it is Sunday right? Wrong. Today was not the typical Sunday in the Johnson house. Daddy was up early as usual to make the third Sunday eight o'clock Men's Day worship service. Today Mommy and CJ were not up with him. So he prayed and kissed them both on the foreheads as he usually does when he leaves out and made his way to church.
Also different from any other Sunday, Daddy was only staying for the eight o'clock service. Daddy is in the process of forming a mentoring program and has someone that may be interested in helping with some funding. That meant that Daddy needed to complete an informational piece that explains what the program is all about. We are happy to report that Daddy did accomplish what he set out to do. He has a few kinks to straighten out but we are confident the document will be completed when it is needed to be.
Once he was finished Daddy cleaned the bathroom and put the new accessories in. I add this just so you know Daddy does have a domestic side to him. He does what he can around the house. This will help dispel the gender roles that some people tend to promote. CJ already sees something more progressive, a Daddy who does the majority of the cooking and that decorates and accessorizes the bathroom. One role that has to stick is the garbage. Mommy, nor CJ, will need to do that task as that will be left for the man of the house.
After the bathroom it was time to hang out with CJ and I have to report that we went at it today. CJ insisted on doing what she wanted, when she wanted. Daddy wants to help her understand that when Daddy gives instructions, they are for a reason and she needs to comply with them. I know some of you believe she is too young to understand what Daddy wants but I know differently and will challenge theory and any opinions anyone would like to share. I have realized that I need to explain more instead of repeating things over and over again. Clearly that method has not worked effectively.
So today a lot was accomplished. Now let's see when this living room and bedroom get cleaned? I will be the first to say that your scheduled is altered when you have a one year old full of inquiry around. Things are looking up for CJ and Daddy though. We are growing more and more each day. Remember us in your prayers folks, ask God to continue providing the bricks that will allow us to build a strong foundation. We know that when we pray things, people, and situations WILL change.

Bad Hair Saga
Yesterday I mentioned CJ's bad hair issues. Well today they continued. After a Saturday on the job Daddy came home with the hopes of taking CJ and Mommy out for a ride. It would have been all well and good but one look at CJ's hair and Mommy said it was a no go. If CJ was a good girl and listened to her parents she would have been able to go out today. However, CJ does not like to keep her hat on therefore everyone would be able to see her jacked up hair. By the time Daddy came home today she had breakfast, lunch and who knows what else in her hair. Luckily Mommy showed mercy upon her head and washed it, greased it, and put two cute puffs in it. Now at least she could go out in public.
Daddy wishes she could have gone out. He believes that both Mommy and CJ get a little antsy when they stay in the house all day. If CJ is as much like her Daddy as everyone says she is then I know she is restless and ready to break out. We will have to work on our scheduling so that CJ gets some outside time on a daily basis. You all pray for that and it will happen for us. We will be praying too because we know that prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Wipe Me Down!
Today was different than many Friday's. Mommy decided to stay home because she felt ill. The not so bright decision she made was to keep the Princess CJ Johnson home with her. I felt it was not a good look but went along with it. I was online with Mommy during the day and the report was, Mommy was ready to hang CJ! CJ is a handful when you are well but when you are sick she is two hands full.
When Daddy came home he peered around the stairs to surprise CJ. She couldn't see him when he called for her attention but when he came up the stairs she knew who it was and smiled. While Daddy had his snack of nachos he provided CJ with some Golden Grahams so she would not come take his. After snack time Daddy washed CJ up a little and dressed her so she could accompany him to the mall. While they were gone Mommy would be able to relax with no baby to chase around. CJ's hair was a mess today. The braids that were in were taken out and anyone that knows hair can imagine what my poor baby looked like. Daddy found a hat for CJ and told her that she had what is called a "Bad Hair Day" and that she should keep the hat on. CJ did not agree and wanted to show everyone in the mall her hideous hair do.
Now the highlight of our evening was that Daddy was able to go to the mall, on payday, with CJ, and purchase nothing for her. Usually CJ gets something on a trip but Daddy was self-centered tonight and focused on his needs. Now the question is can Daddy make it through the weekend and not swipe for CJ? We shall see. Now Daddy and CJ were out a little longer than they intended to be. Daddy had just given Mommy loads of credit for actually relaxing and not calling to check up on her Dynamic Duo or Treacherous Two. (Something she always does) NO sooner than Daddy smiled and gave her mental dap the phone rang and guess who it was? Your right it was Mommy, we will just say she really missed us.
So we are all back at home enjoying the Cosby Show. Dinner was Five Guys and CJ ate all of Daddy's fries. She really enjoyed them. Daddy enjoyed his time alone with CJ, its been a while but we have a football game next week to look forward to Lord's willing. So folks please remember to pray and put someone in front of you tonight. Prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Pause for Chile!
This morning I woke up to the sound of exuberation. As I began my day I was privy to God at work as methodically the Chilean miners were being pulled from the depths of the earth one by one. These gentlemen whom I do not know have been on my mind all day. What faith they must have is what I thought to myself as I got dressed.
My CJ highlight today is her saying, "Bye Bye Da Da" as I arrived at the babysitter's house. She is beginning to utter those words daily. When I hear them I freeze and soak the moment in. Those simple words help me get to work through the hectic traffic I have to face. I am so excited about the feat that I share it with anyone that will listen. I am glad I am scribing this so she will know just how important she is in her Daddy's life. He goes through a lot during a day and having that point to recall does wonders. I will soon have to record it so I can play it whenever I need.
When I came home from work I did manage to let her know I was in. I think she waited until she heard me to lay down and actually sleep for the night. Again, something to add to my catalog of CJ moments that makes Daddy melt. I also am happy that all 33 miners have been rescued. God is all that and some more. Now as the day fades away remember to pray and add someone who you don't know within your prayers. Prayer changes things, people, and situations, even if it is through a small hole in the ground.

The Color Pink
I think everyone who comes in contact with me knows how I feel about the color pink with regard to CJ. I wanted to clear the record on my behalf. I have no problem with the color pink. In fact, I own several different pink shirts myself. Some people believe that Daddy wears the color well too. The issue I have with pink comes from by sociological background. Daddy has issues with gender identification. The color pink is associated with girls, why does that have to be the case. When you walk in a store for shoes they mess a good pair up by accenting with pink. I went to Macy's when she was first born and everything in the store was pastel pink. I mean how about some variety? So when CJ was born I vowed not to push the color pink on her simply because she was a girl. Yes I bought her boy sneakers because they were hot! I bought her a Giants jersey because that is my team. Yes she wears Jordan's and the color blue too. This is not because I want make her a boy but that blue is one of Daddy's favorite colors and CJ and I have been watching football together since she came home from the hospital. Frankly, I feel that some folks need to give it a rest and live a little and brighten their child's wardrobe with splashes of color, like CJ. She wears, brown, black, purple, orange, red, yellow, blue, neon green, and whatever other color clothing items look nice in. It was funny when we picked CJ up from the babysitter today her daughter did CJ's hair. She pointed put that she put a pink bow in her hair but she did have the color purple for me. I was just happy her hair was done and it looked cute. My rule has always been, CJ will wear whatever anyone purchases for her but Daddy will not buy her anything the color pink. OK, her soccer ball has pink in it but that is for her athletic enrichment.
So there you have it people, live and direct from the horses mouth. You probably think I need prayer right about now so pray for me. Prayer changes things people, and situations. I almost forgot CJ now attempts to say thank you when you hand her something. My Princess is balancing her rough demeanor and her daintiness quite well.
NOT TO CJ: The same person who everyone scolds for buying you a football jersey and Kobe Bryant sneakers need to realize that I am the one that picks out dresses and jewelry for you too! Love you baby, whatever makes you happy!

Little Diapers
Not much to report tonight. I caught CJ by surprise when I was early to pick her up. I found her in her onesie and socks. For business purposes Daddy had to run up north and CJ was ill prepared. When we got to East Orange we realized that CJ had no pampers. Daddy asked his mother whether or not she had any pampers and not to my surprise she did. The problem was that they were for a baby a third of CJ's size. One look at the pamper and Daddy knew that would not work.
So thankfully there was a store near by and Mommy was able to get CJ some pampers that would fit. That is all folks. Today was a simple day but one that the Lord made so I rejoiced and have been glad in it. God's will take care of all problems and situations. So folks, be sure to pray, as prayer changes things, people, and situations.

Slumber Saturday - One In A Million
Today was an interesting mix. I had to work and I wanted to see Hadi play football all while spending the majority of he day at home relaxing. Daddy would like to report that he earned an A+ today because he accomplished it all! As expected CJ woke up pretty early today. Actually when we looked over she had half her leg over her railing. So Mommy took her out of the crib but CJ was ready for action so Daddy hung out with her a bit. It was soon time for Daddy to go leave so he had to lay CJ back down with Mommy which forced Mommy to get up. (She needed to be up anyway, lol!)
Once Daddy returned home he hung out with CJ watching football as he desired to do. he allowed CJ to take a lengthy nap, something Mommy would never do. At one point Mommy let me know that CJ needed to get up. So I got her up and she went all about the house as she normally does. Mommy decided to bathe her and Daddy ran out to the store. When he returned he felt like listening to to music. (Go figure, he always does that anyway) CJ seemed to like the song so he turned it up and grabbed CJ's hands. Daddy tried to do a Chicago style two step with CJ but she was a bit to jumpy. The song was One In A Million by Neyo, link provided for you (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tpl9LtkRRw&ob=av2e) Cute little song too. So ow since CJ took a long nap it 9:00pm an she is still awake. Maybe it is my fault but I did not mean it.
So now I will go watch some more football and anything else I find on the good ole tube. Keep praying folks. Prayer still is undefeated in changing things, people, and situations.

In All Seriousness
Sometimes when you sit down to write you have to pause and think about what is going on around you. There was no coincidence that as I looked for things to watch tonight, A Raisin In The Sun was on. I caught the tail end of the movie where Sonny lost all the money but then he grew up when he would not take money in exchange for his family not moving to a new part of town. I still do not know why it has had such an impact on me but for some reason it has. There is a part of the movie where the mother asks her grandson to come watch his father sell his soul. I pondered on what CJ watches me do? I mean I go to work every day. I pray with my family. I enjoy spending time with them. I try to be an advocate of change in the community. I provide and protect my girls, and I will do anything necessary to ensure their happiness.
The question still remains what is CJ learning from me as her dad? This glimpse of television forced me to look at where we are as a family and where we are going. I'd like to say by the grace of God we are in a good place. However I know God has more in store for us. I have learned to be patient and wait on God. As as favorite song of mine says, "I can depend on God, through the storm, through the rain, through sickness and through pain, I can depend on God!" I really believe this too and I want my daughter to have the same feeling.
Just a few highlights for the day. After staying up way past her bed time last night, CJ slept in this morning. As I left for work she shifted about a bit but she did not wake up. When I came home CJ and Mommy were up and active. We are beginning to have to deal with disciplining her. I know Daddy for sure is dealing with drawing that line. Trying to decipher between what she knows she is doing versus what is developmental. It is a little difficult at this point in time but we are creating the limits and boundaries and the expectations will be laid out soon for everyone to understand. She has to learn that her pretty smile is only for the camera and to make Daddy's day when he is down. It is not meant to get her out of trouble.
As I finish up tonight remember, when you pray to include someone else in your prayers. Prayer changes things, people, and situations especially the one that prays for someone else!

Wearing Down
When I picked CJ up from the babysitter her face looked as if the week had beat her down too. She did not smile or reach out to me. She looked tired and out of sorts. When she came to she began to cry for her Daddy but that was it. She did not have the energy she usually has to be the go-getter we are use too. She was a little under the weather the sitter said so I knew she would sleep a lot when we arrived home. So when I left for church she was sleep and now that I am back home she is still asleep. So you all pray for my Princess to get well. Daddy likes her full of spunk and trust and believe Daddy knows that prayer changes things, people, and situations and can drive sickness away in the name of Jesus.
NOTE TO CJ: Get better!
